Great for Kitchen
Bought this as a present for my parents. Great TV for the kitchen. Nice picture. Built-in DVD easy to operate for parents. Stick in the DVD and it plays. Press eject and it goes back to TV.

Just bought 3 of 'em
Got 3 of these for the kids rooms as I needed something that was a monitor and a TV and was wall mountable. GREAT picture, easy setup and nice remote. The sound could be better, but they're basically watching the Disney channel or playing online learning games so it's perfect. At 269.00 each it was hard to pass up.Might even buy a couple more. However be aware that the wall bracket is NOT included and runs about 60 bucks.

No complaints here
No problem with sound...loud enough at half volume for bedroom use and not "tinny" in the least. Picture wonderful...better than our Sony "tube" TV in the living room, that's for sure. Only being used with a DVD player right now and will be hooking up to cable in the next few weeks, so not sure about any tuner issues. All in all, nice for the price.

Great for kids.
Bought two for our kids for Christmas. Set up was extremely easy. They have very sharp picture quality. The T.V. is so nice that if they last 20 years it's all that they will need. The next step up from this one is a much larger one for a livingroom ( which they can buy when they get out of college ).

Great Buying experience
UPS and Amazon is a great team for holiday shoppers who are looking for speed, convenience and good deals. I ordered this TV late Sun night before Christmas and got it on a freezing rainy day next Tue., less than 48hr later. Superb timely service, quite a surprise!

The TV has great reception, with an old antenna no cable, we were able to receive very clear images. The screen size does need to be funneled a little, but no problem for us. Good sound effect, we bought this set for our in-law's kitchen, so the convenience of setting it up and the sound and image quality, would make her cooking experience dramatically different. Plus, instead of telling her that we are still waiting for the shipment and all stores sold out of the unit, we had it delivered in time for free and were able to try it out before presenting to her. Thank You Amazon!

Great TV, great price
I purchased this television set for my bedroom. It is great! The perfect size and silhouette, good picture and excellent sound. I would recommend it to anyone. The price is outstanding, fully .00 less than the same set from different sources.

Great Bargain!
I purchased this item several months ago and it has performed up to expectations with not one problem. This unit compared to the other manufacturers of this type of product is priced affordably and is not difficult to setup. I saved a minimum of 350.00 or more and the difference in quality is not noticeable. For the money, who cares!!

Spec Discrepancy
Great picture, great price. This TV looks fantastic ON or OFF. I needed to fit it in a space exactly 36" wide. The problem was, no store carries this model, so measuring it was not an option. It's an online purchase only and the online stores gave a width spec of 36.5". I checked the Toshiba website and the spec there was 35.5". I took a chance and luckily the actual width was 35.25". FYI

complete satisfaction
We are completely satisfide with the TV and also the service we got from Amazon. This was our first time ordering and the speed with which we got the TV was great. Saving on shipping was a real plus. The delivery person brought the TV in, hooked it up to the cable and left. No problems at all. The pictures on the TV are great - sharp and clear. There is a few second hesitation when you go to a different channel, but this to us is not a major problem.

very nice
We've had the Toshiba REGZA 37RV530U HDTV for about 3 months now. We got it to replace an old 19 inch TV which was just too small for our new bedroom viewed mostly from around 15-20 feet away. The upgrade to 37 inch was dramatic, we can actually read the DirecTV guide from bed now!
Picture quality on the 37RV530U with our DirecTV Satellite receiver (digital, standard definition) has been very nice after some adjustments, which this TV has plenty of. The surprise has been the over the air High Definition local stations (720p), which look superb on this TV. I attached an old bow tie type antenna we had, not expecting much, but surprisingly we receive most of the local SF Bay area stations in HD. It was a pleasure watching Olympics late night from bed in HD!
This TV also has a VGA input for attaching PCs, which works well for a TV. Have not tried anything at 1080p yet. I wish it had picture in picture, but most LCD HDTVs don't. Overall been very happy with this purchase, well done Toshiba.
For those who might want to save some money, you can go with a 720p HDTV and not sacrifice much unless you have a blueray player or a PS3.

TV is Great, Internet is not

This TV arrived with a defective screen. I do not live near a major city, so it took EIGHT weeks to get my TV approved to send off, actually send off, and get back. NOW it is great - has a beautiful picture, and I am totally please with it.

But, I will NOT buy a large item like this online again, as EIGHT WEEKs is ridiculous to have spent my money but have no TV.

Wonderful picture...
I had purchased this set back in February 2008 and wanted to review after having it for awhile.

This set with DVD player was purchased for our bedroom. The picture quality is gorgeous and vibrant. We have just moved and until we get our 42 inch Panasonic on the wall we have been using this one in the living room. It more than suffices! It looks amazing, that I could see someone using this one as a main tv if the room isn't too large.

Unlike other LCDs, this one does not turn dark or grayed out when viewed from different angles. The picture quality is amazing. The colors are vibrant and bright and I feel as if it is able to get a "true black".

As far as the DVD player... the reality is we have used it about 2 times; so I cannot review on the dependability. I have read and experienced that Toshiba DVD players love to conk out.

The frame is very sleek and sexy, just don't touch it with your oily fingers! I wish I had purchased two when they were on sale because I can no longer find the combos anywhere.

Again, if you can find it for a good price, jump on it. You will not regret it. Also wanted to mention that this set picks up an unbelievable amount of HD channels (about 90) without a cable/satellite box. We have service, but we always love to test the capability of the television.

Good TV, bad DVD player
I'm fully satisfied with the TV (picture quality, menu features, etc), but the built in DVD player has broken twice within the year. Luckily the 1-yr manufacturer's warranty is pretty good and they come to your home to fix it - but it's a major hassle. The repair guy said that this happens relatively often to the Toshiba TVs and they plan to stop producing the sets with built-in players. You're better off buying a TV-only set and get a nice swanky high-def DVD player to plug in!

Great price and easy setup
I have had this TV for six months now and I have not had any problems. Setting the TV up to work with my HD cable box was a breeze. It would be hard to beat the video quality and sound at this price.

Lucky if it lasts
TV was nice for a year and a half. The video board burned out which in turn blew out the lcd screen. Was only used about 4 hrs a week. Repair shop said it would cost as much as a new TV to fix. The tech also said it's poor design by Toshiba making the video board and screen as one part. Be careful, it's cheaper than the higher quality for a reason. My Sony has been around for 7 years, no problems.

I had extended warranty and they refunded me the entire cost of the TV instead of bothering with fixing it. That was surprising, so it must be a known common problem with Toshiba.

Toshiba takes the money and runs!
Well, the product is good unless the cheapo internal dvd player breaks.... and then it is worthless. Meanwhile in repairland, the dvd part is on back order but Toshiba could care less because they already have my money.

Most bang for your buck
I've had this TV since May 08' and I've been very impressed. I use it for everything: TV, Blu-Ray Movies, Games, extended computer screen, etc... Only thing better would be 120Hz, but I've compared it to those screens and see very little difference. The colors are bright, the picture is sharp, and Toshiba is a great name in home electronics. What's even better is the weight, this TV is only 50 lbs! This is the best TV I've ever owned and I will definitely be looking at Toshiba TV's when upgrading in the future.

Awesome picture!
The tv was rated one of the top 42' LCD's on consumer reports and it is definitely living up to that! As for sound we have a surround sound system so we can't say much about the tv sound. If you can get this tv for under 1K I say go for it! Very easy to set up and all you need is a digital receiver to get the channels which is only B00140R0G2 more a month than the regular receiver.

have only had this a month and serious problems have not been fixed
i got this tv at a local long-time dealer (since 1949) AND IT IS a nice looking set. however, I am having problems with it knocking out part of the sound during shows. sometimes it gets so bad, i have to turn it off for 10 min. and let it cool off. today i got a new part for the problem and guess, what, the problem is still there. i am going to have dealer take it back and get a Sony.

TOSHIBA KILLS SANTA for my kid
NOTE: this is a general review of Toshiba's customer service center. Should you have any concerns about what may happen when or if you tv breaks, this is the chaos and frustration you will find in dealing with them. Please go with a different brand...

We bought a TV/DVD combo from Toshiba as a gift from Santa last year for my 8-year old so that she could watch her Full House and Lizzie McGuire movies on it in her bedroom. Unfortunately, after 4 months, the tv's picture stopped working. She told me to send it back to Santa, so off it went to our local authorized Toshiba repairman, as you cannot return these items to Amazon after a certain period of time. We were told by Toshiba that the tv was under full warranty for parts and service. The repairman said no. We would have to pay at least in service repairs. Well, it's been six months and we have yet to see our tv. The part that was supposedly broken was out of stock. Toshiba has sent out part after part after part...spending more in shipping and parts I'm sure than we actually paid for the tv. Now they are shipping out their 4th part...and we still have no tv and it's November. NOTE: the Toshiba representatives were rude and their supervisor (Dave Thomson) was scripted and condescending. TOSHIBA DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT AND DOES NOT HELP ITS CUSTOMERS.

My daughter got so upset that Santa didn't return her tv that we had to buy her another tv a few months ago. Then, she overheard one of the numerous heated discussions between my husband and Toshiba. Every time my husband called, we were told the issue would be "escalated". The representatives are scripted and said whatever they could to passify us. In the end, we were told by Toshiba's supervisor (Dave Thomson) that this was their final decision...to just continue to keep trying to fix an inferior product with no hope that it may get fixed. By the time we get the tv back, if we get it back, it will no longer be under warranty.

In the end, with no return of her original tv and the numerous phone calls to/from Toshiba, my daughter finally got the clue and realized Santa doesn't exist. Thanks Toshiba. MAY NO PARENT EVER RELY ON YOUR PRODUCT AGAIN! THE TECHNOLOGY IS LOUSY AND YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT! GIVEN HOW TIGHT CONSUMERS' WALLETS ARE THIS SEASON, I HOPE PEOPLE LOOK PASSED YOUR BRAND AND SELECT A BETTER CHOICE.

FYI...When we purchased the tv, it was not made clear to us that it would be outdated within 14 months with the switch to digital.

Caution, power problem with this model
I was very happy with this HD LCD tv when I bought it in April 2008, but unfortunately there's a problem with this model. The television shuts off randomly on it's own. At first it happened maybe once a week, but after a few months it urned off about twice daily. It turned on and worked again fine, but it was a bit annoying. I contacted Toshiba support via email and got a quick, friendly response with a list of local service companies. I sent it to one local independent servicer here in Portland, Ore., and they have been studying it for a few weeks now, but still have no idea what the problem is. Just spoke to them today (10-29-08) and they have 4 identical models in the shop for repair for the same problem. They are in contact with Toshiba and awaiting a fix from them. It will be repaired under warranty, and I am not concerned about this long term. I have had Toshiba televisions for years and been very pleased with them. This model is suffering from some kind of electrical, power or circuit problem, let's hope they find a fix soon. In the meantime you might want to look at a different model or brand. I'll update this review when it's fixed.

NOVEMBER 12TH UPDATE
After 3-4 weeks in the shop for testing and warranty repair, I received the set back a couple of days ago and it still switches off by itself periodically. I called the repair company and they said it's because I live in an apartment building, and the set will shut off if it receives any variation in power supply. They said this is very common with this and other Toshiba models in condos and apartments, and people in houses don't have this problem. He also said, "if it starts to shut off several times while watching movies that means a problem with the power supply and it would need to be repaired." At this point I would have to advise you to consider different models and other brands, unfortunately.

Excellent Little TV
It's sleek and works perfectly. I hooked the cable to it and it automatically identified all analog and digital stations available and ignored the others. I also have a PC connected and it works great too.

Disappointing Upgrade
We replaced our JVC 19" CRT TV in the home office with what we thought would be an upgrade. The size is perfect for the shelf in the office & it looks good. DVD works fine & allows presets for viewing size and captions which is a nice. The picture is ok (a bit darkish) and the sound good enough for the space, but the tuner takes 3-5 secs to select & display a channel. That's ridiculous given all the high tech features built into this TV. Why not install a high tech tuner? Overall the old JVC was a better TV. I wish we had done more research on brands of this size. We won't make that mistake when we buy a larger LCD TV for our primary TV....and it mostly likely won't be a Toshiba.

Sound NG
Had this unit a few days now, picture great, sound not so good. With the volume maxed out it was still too low, one could hardly hear the TV sitting 10ft away. Luckily, my cable coverter box also has a volume control, using that the sound is fine. If it wasn't for my coverter box I would have returned this TV. Don't buy if you don't have some sort of auxillary volume support.

Truthful view
I am just trying to give a quick message to anyone thinking of purchasing this tv. I can recommend it 100%. The picture is outstanding. The sound is also very good and I can hear it perfectly even though my hearing is very bad.
I just received this tv from Amazon today and it took less than 30 minutes to read the manual and get everything set up. I am using the AT&T U-verse service and the picture is at least as good as I get on my 42 inch plasma set.
I just tried the DVD player and again all I can say is WOW!!!!!!
For a bedroom or office this is the perfect tv.................

Toshiba 19LV505 19-Inch w/ DVD Player
I brought this T.V. because I needed another t.v. for my livingroom. I love this t.v. it's sharp, and the sound is great. Some t.v.'s sounds can be low, but not this one. Easy to set up, had no trouble at all, and it's light. The DVD is great. I can now watch my movies in style.
