Nice little TV
After reading the other reviews here, and checking this model (and others) out at brick & mortar stores, we decided to buy it despite the negative comments on the sound/volume. As others here have noted the picture is quite nice, but more important we did not have any problems with the volume. We have not yet turned it up over maybe 1/3 of the total, and it is plenty loud enough for our living room. Granted, we are not vacuuming while watching TV, but we do have a couple of rambunctious kids, and they TV is plenty loud enough with them running around.

Very good HDTV
This Sharp LCD HDTV Is great. Has a super clear picture... works flawlessly in 480P mode with my Nintendo Wii and Dvd. The built in digital tuner was able to pick up about 15 Digital HDTV Channels using a standard indoor rabbit ears antenna. I am also very impressed with the black level and contrast. Will also connect to a pc in in full 1360x768 resolution. This tv also has an optical out for connecting a dolby digital 5.1 tuner. It amazing to get True DD 5.1 surround sound from shows such as CSI Miami. The built in speakers are only 2 watt. So I recomend use of external speakers with this set. the resolution of 720P is perfect for this size HDTV. 480p sources such as dvds and wii across the component cables scale very well and look great. I would highly recomend this set to anyone looking for a high quality Small size HDTV set.

No HDMI PC/Mac support?
When I paid for this 19" SHARP, I asked if it supported HDMI input from a PC/Mac to serve as a high-resolution monitor. Despite being extremely specific with my question, I was apparently lied to and purchased an LC display that DOES NOT support HDMI input from a computer.

While the LC-19SB25U supports A/V input from an HDMI cable, it refuses to calibrate or connect with my computer. As a PC/Mac monitor it only supports VGA input which is NOT high-definition. A standard VGA-out tube television can do the same thing for .

To compare, I also own a 27" Ölevia HDTV. It cost less than 0, supports HDMI input from virtually all sources (including my computer), can be updated with firmware and has superior sound and image quality. While the Ölevia may not be true 16:9, it supports 1080p and is offers about twice the screen size for the same or less money.

I absolute do not recommend the SHARP LC-19SB25U as a monitor or television. Its too quiet to work in a kitchen or office, and does not work as an HD monitor.

Returned the set. Couldn't hear it.

I was hyped about this new model. I paid top dollar from my local electronics store since I needed a new tv for my kitchen (9). I wanted the new tuner that would pick up all the signals after the changover next febuary. Well I hooked it up and thought it was everything I hoped, super clear screen. The problem is even with the audio on full it seems like it's on low. I returned it for a Toshiba whick had just as nice of picture and nice volume. What good is a tv if you can't hear it? Unless your not using the tv's speakers I would avoid this set.

Where's the Volume?

I just bought this set and love the picture but there is no volume to talk about. I had to buy a powered external speaker for it, at full volume it can barely be heard. Sharp might have the screen down but they need alot of help with the audio. Only buy this set if you plan on using external speakers.

Great picture, a few features missing
From a geek perspective:

This TV gives a great picture. It has so far been great for me and outperforms my roommates 1yr old Bravia XBR in a few areas. I was holding off for many months from buying and finally these were reduced to a reasonable price-size ratio. I couldn't give 5 stars because there are several cons- none of which are deal breakers but they broke my heart to be missing or incomplete. Overall, great set and I highly recommend over anything else on the market for quality and looks, although as far as usability features go they could be refined a bit more.

As noted in there are some cons which I will reiterate here as well:

Pro:
- Great contrast ratio.
- Size of the bordering on the set are small.
- No LED lit logo (sony's do that).
- Plenty of inputs.
- Great motion response: games look great. Great response in general actually: over a 25' VGA cable it looks great as a computer monitor.
- Audio input for couple with VGA input.
- RS232 port and decent specifications in the documentation to control the set.
- Detachable speakers

Cons:
- No Picture in Picture: with so much screen, only one input at a time?
- No labeling of inputs: If your input is not digital it won't know what it is.
- PC inputs are limited in resolution: Even though it is not practical to scale up to 1080p for VGA and be visible, it would be nice- especially since the set is tauted as being 'Full 1080'. Although it does function and look nice at lower resolutions, not all of them are supported.
- No DVI.
- Speakers are not as great as they could be, although this set begs for wall mount and speaker removal (they are removable).
- One feature of this thing is the 'Net' which is a really dumb downed slow web utility to view 'widgets' like current weather, stock prices, etc. Usability of this feature is not so great and it is too slow to be purposeful. Would be great if it were always on and customizable (email notifications would be great).

Great picture
The picture on this TV is absolutely beautiful. I bought an Aquos Blu-Ray player at the same time and the two together are absolutely amazing. This TV does an amazing job with HD signals but it is also impressive in displaying analog signals without looking pixellated. I pump my audio through a home theater system so I can't say much about the speaker.

The only thing that makes me knock a star off is that there is no picture-in-picture capability. Originally, I hadn't thought about it since I don't use PIP much but it would be nice to have.

Very Happy with this TV
I've only had the Sharp Aquos LC52SE94U a few days, but here is my initial impression. First I'll say, so far, I'm very happy with this TV.

Good points
The Sharp Aquos LC52SE94U has an extremely good picture quality (of course), and very bright. Even on standard cable it looks very good.
When watch analog channels you can see a small amount of pixelazation cause by the low resolution on a very large screen, but you really have to look for it.
When you watch HD channels the picture is far better than you can imagine.
The Smart Stretch option which causes 4:3 to be viewed at 16:9 works really well, often it is difficult to tell the screen was stretched.
A bonus to me was when I scanned for channels I found I have about 50 digital channels and at least 10 of them in high def. This is good news, I just have standard (analog) cable.
Very good sound quality using the factory speakers, not audiophile quality, but as good as any TVs speakers I've ever heard.
The screws and tools you need to mount the base and the speakers on the TV come packaged very nicely together. Very professional job of packaging.

Low points
I was disappointed to find the Aquos did not have channel labeling (on analog channels - digital channels self label). I use this feature a lot, and I have grown use to having it on my past TVs. So, now I'm forced to write my channels down on a piece of paper so I know which is which (of course this is a moot point if you are using digital cable).
The menu control to disable a channel is cumbersome at best.
I don't like the way the power cord plugs in, it doesn't seem very secure for a unit designed to hang on the wall.

Thrilled with the TV
I found the buying experience through Amazon's authorized retailer to be great. I was a bit nervous about spending such a large amount of money with a retailer I knew nothing about but the transaction was perfect. As for the TV. I don't know much about the tech side but the picture quality is outstanding. I did start out with the analog cable but upgraded to digital 1080p and found the money is well worth it. The TV needs to be fed the high quality signal to perform at its best.

WOW
The Sharp Aquos LC32D64U 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV is an amazing TV. I could not be happier. The picture on the HD channels is so realistic that I get motion sickness when watching cycling! I can't wait for the winter Olympics! The picture on the regular channels is great. What can I say about the sound? I am hearing sounds that I have never heard from my TV before. When I am in another room (and the TV is on), I have to go into the living room to see what I'm hearing. Buy this TV you will not be sorry.

I was shocked at how fast Electronic Express got this TV to my house. I placed my Amazon order on Sunday 09/28/08 and I had the TV by Wednesday 10/01/08. Thank you Amazon and Electronic Express!

A Crisp Compact LCD TV
This is my second Sharp Aquos LCD TV. The first one was a 30" that required a set top box to drive it. It lasted five years before suddenly failing. This unit, compared to it, has a much sharper picture and the controls are very easy to use. It is super easy to change the aspect ratio and the picture is very crisp and clear with good color balance. I use Dish Net with S-video signal input into the unit. It is also connected to a Sony tuner, Toshiba DVD player/recorder and VHS Tape player To this point I am very happy with the unit but if one fails after warantee period be prepared to pay big bucks for repair. In my case it was cheaper to buy a new set rather than repair my old set top.

Outstanding HDTV
The sharp aquos (32")was the perfect size for the room I bought it for. The setup was easy, the picture is great (even with the sun shinning on it).

I would higly recommend this product to anyone for a small room that wants a quality product at a reasonable price.

Picture is fine, but Lag time between channels is painful
Just received my lc32d64u this week!
I cannot tell if the unit is supposed to do this, or its faulty, but when I switch channels, there is a lag, I see a black screen then the new channel with the info in the top right corner.
That is frustrating.
Does anyone else have this issue??

Fantastic Viewing
I purchased this TV when it first became available. I was prepared to purchase the earlier version but I knew that the this model, if it became available, would work better for me. I live and travel full-time in a fifth wheel trailer. My available space is restrictive. I knew that the reduction in depth and bezel dimensions would make installation much easier. I intitially set it up using the base provided. The set worked beautifully as soon as I plugged it in and hooked up my HD satellite service. The HD version of the weather channel is so clear that you think your viewing it live in the studio. Reception of HD over the air channels is amazing using the standard antenna that came with my camper. I can make a comparison with my daughter's 42 inch Panasonic Plasma. The Aquos is superior at comparable distances. I echo the other reviews that talk about the crispness of the picture. I am glad is waited for this latest technology by Sharp. Before starting my summer travels I make custom mounting using a standard arm. I enlarged the wall TV opening to fit flush to the TV with 1/4 inch foam rubber on all sides to cushion road travel. I have traveled 3000 miles since installation.

Sharp has Quality and Customer ServiceProblems
I bought a new Sharp LC-37D62U on-line. It was pretty, the right size for my space, the specs were great and customer reviews were favorable. My experience to this point has been less than favorable.
The picture quality is pretty good, good viewing angle, very dark blacks and good contrast. Unfortunately, the audio will not lock onto two local digital sub-channels, it cuts in and out. I've tried a different antenna, with no change. Two other digital tuners in the house work fine on all channels. Sharp customer service tried to diagnose the problem by phone and finally decided to dispatch a local repair center. The local repair center says the problem is with the Sharp firmware and cannot be resolved until Sharp updates the firmware. Sharp denies a firmware issue and blames the local broadcaster. I asked why my other tuners worked, they said their tuner doesn't work like other peoples'. They are half right.
So, here I sit with a new Sharp TV that for whatever reason will not work with two of the local stations. I guess my options are to move to another city and hope those broadcasters work on Sharp TVs, watch the other channels or buy another new TV. If I get another TV, I don't think I'll consider Sharp as an option!

very "Sharp" 1080p
This is an awesome LCD. Sharp, in my opinion, has it all including a great price. The contrast ratio is very important to have the best images, colors and true black/whites. The Aquos has one of the highest
available for the price. Great for gaming & action scenes as well. The vendor shipped the product out quickly...ordered tuesday night and arrived thursday by 3:00pm...very nice.

Good TV with a couple of negatives
Got this TV at an Atlanta area MART that sells many BRANDS (hint, hint), and got it at an excellent price (after salesperson cuts and rebates, got it for just over 0). Its a different model number (store-specific), but the same exact TV.

Here are lists for the pros and cons:

PROS
- Excellent picture, and easy to plug-n-play
- The TV menu/options has a TON of pick-and-choose settings, which leads to an endless amount of tweaking to get the best possible picture.
- The set looks nice mounted on the wall.
- The sound for TV/Cable is excellent.
- The HD picture for the cable is crisp and clear!
- Energy save features are great (auto-shut off, signal detection, automatic brightness adjuster, etc).

CONS
- Main Con: The picture from playing Blu-Ray movies (connected with a proper 1080p HDMI cable from a PS3) is not as crisp as some other TVs I have seen. I've been told that this is most likely due to the size of the TV, as larger TVs would be able to deliver 'crisper' detail (as the 1080 horizontal lines wouldn't be as compacted).
Was told by a certain store's 'Dork Group' that at 37', 1080p is only JUST more noticeable that 720p would be. They said in order for 1080p to be fully observed, a screen size of 42' and greater is best.
- The sound of both blu-ray and regular DVDs leaves something to be desired. I don't have a home theater set-up, and the speakers on the TV don't seem to handle the dolby digital sound as well as they should (can watch TV with volume in the teens...need to hike it up to the upper 30's to mid 40's for DVD/blu-ray playback). I think its just an issue with the TV's ability to compress the higher audio input.
- All inputs are in back of the TV (not side-mounted). Thus, if your TV is mounted to the wall, once its there, changing out cords and plugs is a challenge w/o removing the TV from the wall.
- On-TV buttons (power, volume, etc) are on top of the TV. Again an issue if the TV is mounted on the wall.
- On occasion, it takes the TV up to 10 seconds to read a new signal. For instance, playing a Blu-Ray disc, the rating screen is typically in 720p resolution. The TV will show 'lag' in decoding the 720p signal vs. the 1080p of the rest of the disc.

Sharp made a nice HDTV here, but the designing of the TV is quite flawed and poorly executed. Plus, the information about the 1080p resolution on this size TV is a little off-putting. I recommend saving a few hundred bucks and going with the 720p model for the 37' inch set. Also, be sure to consider needing additional speakers in order to fully enjoy DVD/blu-ray sound.

Nice TV
Great buy, very satisfied with size, unless its right next to a 40 or 42 inch tv you would never know its a tad smaller. Wonderfully clear picture, I use a digital antenna and pick up amazing free digital local TV. Really really impressed by picture quality.

good buy
quality of picture and TV in general is very good, would definitely recommend it. The only thing that i dont like so much is the exterior appearance, my samsung 46" looks much nicer, but as this is the only downside:

Definitely worth the buy !!

The Perfect Tv!
Well I wouldn't know. This is my first HDTV that I bought with my own money. I is awesome. It looks so good. Unfortunately I haven't played the Blu-Ray yet so I cant say how beautiful the quality was but I think I could tell that this tv is awesome, low priced, and perfect for its size.

Sharp Poor Customer Service Reps
The Sharp TV never worked upon delivery. After many phone calls and hours with different customer service representatives (who told me to proceed differently) at Sharp, which took place over several days, they finally sent a service man to pick-up the TV and repair it. It took one week for repair.
When you receive a faulty TV and have paid for a new TV, not a reconditioned one, they should replace the TV with a new one. If I wanted a reconditioned one, I could have bought one for less money.

Nice Picture, easy setup, needs strong signal
I also had the problem with the channel popping up in the right top corner of the screen every 30 seconds or so. I called Sharp and they answered their help line very fast, they were obviously based in the US for support, and solved the problem by having me change to an RCA input from the DirecTV box rather then a cheap cable (yes, I'm just using standard def on this TV for now). But it improved the picture and got rid of the pop-up. Still, very annoying. I was very happy with their support.

As for the rest, very nice picture, good sound right from the built-in speakers, easy set-up. I would recommend as a second TV, or your first upgrade to a HDTV as it handles Standard Definition signal very well. Got it for less then 0.00, so much better then buying an off-brand with no support.

good product ruined by minor flaw
I am using this tv with analog cable. The box with the channel number in it keeps popping up all the time (every 30s-1min) on some channels. This is very annoying. Changing the channel takes a few seconds making channel surfing slow. Other than that it is a great product. With digital cable you should not be affected by the channel box problem. Unfortunately I do not have this option.

I contacted customer support about the channel number popping up and this was their reply:

"The display will populate on screen any time there is a change to the incoming signal (mono to stereo audio, weak/fluctuating signal strength). Unfortunately there is no way to deactivate the on screen display. If you are able, try using an alternate connection (composite video and analog audio; yellow, red and white cables) from your source device (cable/sat box, if using) to the unit. This will prevent this issue from occurring by providing a more consistent signal. Let me know if you have any other questions"

A great product at a great price
This DTV was purchased for my mother who had been wanting a more modern replacement to her dying 15-year-old set. Although many products are available to choose from, we chose this model because of the Sharp name and our previous good experience with Sharp Electronics and the quality behind the name as well as for its price. Since money was tight, we needed the most bang for the buck and this was our choice. The television arrived very quickly after shipping, was packed well and setup was so easy that we had it in place in just a couple of minutes. Ease of operation couldn't be any simpler. My mother, being elderly, needs simplicity when it comes to technology and this can't be beat. The quality is certainly there and we're all very pleased with the purchase.

Only 65" LCD in the market, best one in Aquos LCD line
This TV is so far everything I expected. The Sharp Aquos line took a big dump years ago when they started to redesign and replace parts with cheaper ones. This new generation Shar Aquos is back to its original standards. I have this unit mounted on the wall of my entertainment center and its the perfect size. This is the only available LCD on the 65" range. About the 120hz hype, I've seen the next generation of this model with the 120hz Spider Man 3 on Blu-ray and there IS ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE. What the other makes are advertizing as 120hz true motion is different. This is manipulating the image to eliminate all possible blur natural to LCDs when watching cinema (24 frames per second) movies. If you have any doubts, go to a Frys or BestBuy and watch a TV playing a movie with 120hz true motion enabled. It makes movies look fake, as if you are watching a video game or a soap opera. It takes you out of the movie. Your grinch reflex will be overworked scene by scene. Sharp has had 120hz refresh rates for years and they look the same as 40hz (this model). Don't be taken up by the marketing fad on this feature and be suckered to pay an extra 00. In my opinion, the next generation on this size by Aquos is plain ugly. The frame looks like is covered in leather, with four hidious chrome squares on each corner. This model has a slick piano-like frame finish with very elegant and contemporary lines. Overal, it is a great TV. Make sure you have at least 14 feet of separation between the TV and the seating area.

I recommend this product highly.

Sharp LCD 65 inch HDTV great value
This set worked great out of the box. I am very pleased with picture and sound, as well as the price available on line. I used the Sanus wall mount kit recommended for the LC65D64U. It fits very close to the wall, looks good. Be warned that the bolts furnished by Sanus do not fit the set (Use metric M10-mm30) also had to file the slots in the mount bracket slightly wider to allow for the bolts to fit. I know there are some feature on much more expensive models that might sound neat but for a basic set with a great picture I could not see a cost benefit with another more expensive set.

65" AQUOS...need I say more
We have a large room with lots of windows so had to go LCD over plasma. I have not complaints over this tv. Picture is amazing, even wathching Hi Def sports channels. The price goes up and down, but keep watching it and go for the 65 over the 50's any day.

Sharp Aquos LC65D64U - Amazing HDTV!
We purchased the Sharp Aquos LC65D64U in early February, and have found the picture and everything else about this HDTV nothing short of amazing. We shopped extensively and looked at many other large screen flat panels, and nothing compares to this for the money. (Actually, I don't know how anyone could want a more beautiful picture at any price.)

We used our existing high-end surround sound speaker system (originally purchased several years ago for use with a Sony 60-inch rear projection TV, which was great in its day), but upgraded our old surround sound receiver to a new Yamaha RXV863 receiver to complement the newer digital technology. We have the Sharp mounted on the wall, and use a Playstation 3 for Blu-ray movies and a Cox HDTV cable box with DVR for HDTV reception, recording, and playback. We also have a Wii player connected, and its images also look great with this HDTV.

This Sharp HDTV was delivered via Amazon's standard truck carrier, and arrived on time in perfect condition.

This is one great HDTV. We highly recommend it!

Great picture but noxious fumes
The picture is beautiful, but the fumes from the set are noxious.

The odor gets overpowering and nauseating after the TV is on for a short while. We turn the set off and air out the living room. I am trying to research whether the fumes are a health hazard or not, but it certainly does impair our enjoyment of this two-month old set.

We can also feel the heat radiating off the 65"screen.

We have a 42" Sharp LCD Aguos set also with no odor or heat problem. We bought the 65" model based on our good experience with the smaller set.

I intend to contact Sharp and hear what they have to say about it.

This model's volume control function doesn't work until after the set is on for a minute. After that it works fine.

Considering the price of this set, these problems should not exist. Be forewarned.

Customer Reviews

Greatest HDTV I have ever bought.
This TV is phenomenal, the picture is incredible, it looks great and it's not that heavy. I have my PS3, X-box 360 and Wii all connected to this tv and it's so simple to switch in between them. I also used it as a computer monitor and Oh MY GOD! Counterstrike on a 1920x1080 resolution is insane! Probably the best TV I have ever owned. I also suggest getting 5.1 speakers for this TV because the TV has a problem with bass. It tends to overpower the speakers so get what I got, Logitech 5.1 Z-5500 =Amazing. I highly recommend it and buy it from NEWEGG it's 850 bucks in Total, fast shipping and great service.

Recommended for Nongamers Too
We did not buy this Sharp Aquos because it is a gaming TV, but because we saw it next to TVs in the same price range at one of the electronics chains, and the Sharp picture blew the others away. Even though we knew we would save almost 0 buying the TV online, we were a little nervous about buying from TigerDirect through Amazon. We took the plunge, though, and the TV arrived in a matter of days in perfect condition. The set-up with our HD DVR was a little difficult, and calls to Time Warner weren't much help when the support person insisted the 480i showing on the DVR was the DVR model number. We finally went to Time Warner's Web site and found the information we needed to get the set up to maximum resolution. We have had the TV a couple of months now and are very happy with it. A word to the wise -- if your order with Amazon "suggests" you purchase a Bargaincell HDMI cable for an extra B000NKAYWG.98, pass on it. We ordered the cable, and the audio was nonfunctional.

Good TV
I found one dead pixel on this TV, but I guess if you don't want dead pixels then you have to test it in a shop and buy one in a shop instead of buying it online. I also found that it takes some for the grey-to-black, you can see ghosting effect. Also, consistent with the other reviews, it doesn't come with very good speakers, so better use some external speakers. I game a lot with my PS3 using this TV (the dead pixel still annoys me a lot, I guess when you get a Full HD you kinda demand perfection), and somehow it's harder to see the images when there's a lot of sunlight, requiring me to sit closer (and I have 25/20 vision). Overall, this is a good TV comparing price for price with other brands. With Sharp' new Kameyama state-of-the-art factory though, you'd think that they would have up-ed their quality a bit more.

Sharp Aquos LC32GP1U 32-Inch 1080p LCD Gaming HDTV
This a great tv and the picture quality for HD channels is excellent. I also play my PS3 games with my this tv and I have to say that there is unbelievable sharpness with PS3 games. Overall picture quality and sound are great and the game button on the remote is very convenient. It helps while switching between game and tv programs. Setup was very easy with no hassel at all.

I had to return my tv- it was dead when it arrived. when i phoned sharp, they said it happens all the time with products from Tiger Direct-
