This is a great little player for the price. The only regret was that I should have gotten the one with Netflix built into it. Still though, the video and sound quality are ideal.

this player lasted 4 months, just long enough to be out of the warrenty period. of course samsung will fix it for a price. not worth the money unless you want to buy another one in four months.

Everything was fine up until about the time the 90 day warranty expired at which point this worthless pile of horse dung began to overheat and skip during playback. The problem got progressively worse and now I can’t make it through any movie without stopping halfway through and giving the “player” a chance to cool off.
If you opt to ignore my advice and purchase this future paperweight, just wait until your first experience with Samsung customer service! I recommend having a bottle of gin handy. If they had opened our conversation with “We’ve already got your money and if you weren’t smart enough to check around and find out what kind of company we are, well, then that’s just your fault!” it would have ended the exact same way in a whole lot less time. Between what I’m ashamed I paid for this abomination and what Samsung had the nerve to try to charge me for the repair I could have purchased a higher end unit from a reputable company who’s not ashamed to stand behind their product. Please learn from my mistake, save yourself the time, money, energy, frustration and a shaking of your faith in humanity and don’t bother considering this thing (or any other Samsung product for that matter).

We are pleased with the quality and performance of the player. But we learned through frustration that you have to update the firmware for the player to be compatible with many of the newer blu-ray discs. Directions are available on the Samsung website.

I’m generally a big fan of Samsung. My last two TVs and DVD players are all Samsung. This particular DVD player works fine for watching almost all movies. I really like the Anynet connectivity that integrates seamlessly between the DVD player and the TV. I simply put a DVD in the player and the TV settings automatically update for watching the movie (TV input, screen settings, etc).
That said, I’m very disappointed to learn this model does not support streaming videos from Netflix, etc. Samsung markets the USB and internet connectivity features on this DVD player as ways to keep their products current and yet they don’t seem to be in any rush to update this model for video streaming. The same hold true for the las Samsung TV I bought (LN52A750).
