I have to say not sure how i lived with out Tivo. I dont watch a huge amount of tv and didnt think i needed tivo. But tivo offers so many things plus it allow you to watch the shows you want to watch when you want to watch them.
I gave this 4 stars out of 5 only because there seems to be a issue with screen going blank (all Gray) when turned to live tv(Live tv is what tivo calls when watching any channel. swich from tivo menu to tv watching). Tivo is no help and gives you the run arou……
I switched from the Verizon FIOS DVR to the Tivo HD. The Tivo is so much easier to use and ends up saving me money each month (Verizon charged $15.95/mo to rent their DVR and now I just need to rent a $3.99/mo cable card). I’m very happy with this purchase.

I have only had this unit a month but so far I really do like it, my only gripe was the small hard drive but I solved that with a 1Tb external drive. I am not fond of the fact that the hard drives run 24/7 but I knew that going into the purchase and I guess it is the nature of the beast. I really do like not having to look at all the commercials now, I can look at an hour show in 45 minutes.

Purchased Tivo unit to replace older TIVO units we were forced to replace by Comcast change to all digital cable. Tivo installed easily and Tivo support (due to Comcast incorrect activation) was excellent. Picture quality is excellent (better than before)and one of the Tivo units that we purchased is used as a digital tuner for an older large screen TV without digital tuners. My family moved from UK to USA at beginning of 2009. We were used to Humax PVR9200T and were very disappointed with the sluggish, ugly and unstable user interface of the Scientific Atlanta DVR products from Cox Cable in Las Vegas. Given the ridiculous amount of commercials during tv programs in the US compared with Europe, we find it essential to be able to watch our chosen programs and skip through the trash. The Tivo box after a day or two of it updating itself to the latest software standards……
