I purchased this dvd player to replace another player. I dont have high def tv so I didnt need to purchase the cord that other reviers spoke of. Its a low profile, thin player. It saves your spot in the movie if you come back to it at a later time. It was easy to set up and user friendly. It runs quietly & doesnt get warm like my old one (JVC). Im pleased with my purchase.

Although I haven’t tested the upconversion feature yet, it plays standard DVDs fine. Reads them quickly.

I was replacing this Sony DVD player for my old basic Toshiba. This Sony costs almost twice as much because it is supposed to have near HD resolution. But at least for the DVD movies that I have, the picture quality is much worse than that of my Toshiba.

One the bright side, the remote for the Sony works much better and at a farther distance than the remote for the Toshiba.
